To accommodate and accurately bill Customers that have their own solar-energy systems, SGCPC will be installing new bi-directional meters for those specific Customer accounts and premises. That will allow SGCPC to accurately bill for energy consumed and track energy exported to the grid.

There will be a short-duration utility outage for that premise only when our technicians replace the meter. We will attempt to notify the occupant immediately before doing the work.

If our technicians detect that there is voltage on the Customer side of the meter during that premise outage, this condition could result only from an improperly connected onsite solar or battery system. In that case, SGCPC will leave the meter disconnected and notify that Customer of the safety problem and the urgency for correction. That wiring situation could result in injury or death to our technicians working on the electricity grid.
